Rotate, letter, rotate!–SolidWorks

I am sure you didn’t get whatever is written above! So read on!

You know how to enter text in sketch. You know even how to assign rotation to the text characters up to certain degree. But what if you need to apply different rotation angle to each letter? Well, you can use the text tool for each character one-by-one and assign rotation to it.

Assembly mates in SolidWorks: Mechanical mates

Mechanical mates in SolidWorks….

List below shows the mechanical mates…

As stated earlier in previous post, mechanical mates are used to create mechanisms in an assembly. Prior to assigning mechanical mates, it’s necessary to reduce degrees of freedom of a component such that it can only be moved in the desired direction. Say you want to create a gear mechanism, than first constraint a gear such that it can only be rotated in it’s axial direction.

(You need to do so for the examples given in this post.)

Assembly mates in SolidWorks–advanced mates

Advanced mates in SolidWorks….

List below shows the advanced mates…

As stated earlier in previous post, the advanced mates are used to assign limited motion to components, reducing degrees of freedom further. Say you can assign limit for a part so that it’ll move within the define limits only, or you can make a part follow certain path, and likewise.

(To use the following examples appropriately you need to first assign the standard mates so that the parts will be in proper alignment as shown in the respective images.)
